English Language Unit

 

English Language Unit is a unit under Social Sciences Department, headed by Miss Nurul Asma Binti Mat Nasir with 21 dedicated lecturers teaching the subject for both Two-semester Programme and Four-semester Programme. 

The Syllabus meant to help students to become effective and efficient language users in academics and social contexts. Apart from that, the syllabus, through the lecturers, will help to prepare the students for current and future English language assessment, including the Malaysian University English Test (MUET). 

COURSES

WE013 - SDS Semester I & SES Semester III

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate listening, speaking, reading and writing skills accurately, fluently and effectively as proficient English language users in both academic and social contexts up to B2 level in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

2. Synthesise information and arguments from a number of sources.

WE023 - SDS Semester II & SES Semester IV

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

1.Demonstrate listening, speaking, reading and writing skills accurately, fluently and effectively as proficient English language users in both academic and social contexts up to C1 level in the CEFR.

2. Synthesise information and arguments from a number of sources.

DE013 - SES Semester I

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate listening, speaking, reading and writing skills accurately, fluently and effectively as proficient English language users in both academic and social contexts up to B1 level in the CEFR.

2. Synthesise information and arguments from a number of sources.

 DE023 - SES Semester II
 At the end of the course, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate the ability to communicate competently and collaborate effectively in individual and group work by receiving selected and combined information through listening and reading while demonstrating cooperative and leadership skills at B1+ (Strong Threshold Level) in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

2. Demonstrate the ability to respond actively and effectively, both individually and in groups, through both oral and written forms while exhibiting self-access and lifelong learning abilities.
